Birmingham Town Hall

Independent Client Adviser and Project Manager for the restoration of the Grade 1 Listed Town Hall as a performance and community venue to be operated by Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Invigour acted as Independent Client Adviser and Project Manager for the restoration of the Grade I Listed Town Hall, transforming it into a modern performance and community venue operated by Birmingham Symphony Hall. Initially appointed to guide this £35 million-plus scheme through the pre-possession phase and into a negotiated building contract under a partnering arrangement, Invigour was subsequently retained to oversee the project through to completion.

This complex scheme involved multiple funders, including Birmingham City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund, and ERDF. Invigour played a key role in coordinating efforts across funding applications, business case development, the formation of a charitable trust, and the building contract. These efforts ensured the restoration of this significant landmark into a sustainable, world-class performance and community venue.

Key benefits delivered included securing a robust contract for a challenging project, maintaining the programme and budget, and achieving the highest quality standards. Invigour successfully balanced the demands of creating a modern performance venue with the need to conserve the Grade I Listed building. The venue re-opened on October 4, 2007, on time and within budget
